Staking poles are used for reinforcement and support for young planted trees. A planted tree has not yet developed enough roots and can quickly blow over in strong winds. Furthermore, a stake ensures that the roots cannot move and therefore establish better.
For trees that only need support for a short time, untreated stakes can suffice. However, the majority of young trees require support for 4 to 7 years. For this purpose, impregnated stakes or stakes with a higher durability, such as chestnut stakes, are used. Both variations are available from us.
Tree stake placement
When placing the stake, maintain a distance of approximately 20-30 cm from the tree. The most common wind direction is also very important: place the stake to the southwest of the tree so that the tree blows away from the stake. You can choose to use 2 or 3 stakes per planting in windy areas or for aesthetic reasons. Ensure that the tree stake is about 10 cm below the crown to prevent abrasion damage from branches.
Tree Planting Day
The National Tree Festival Day (also known as Tree Planting Day) is held annually in the Netherlands on the third Wednesday of March. This day is dedicated to the preservation of trees in nature and was first organised in the Netherlands in April 1957. Thousands of primary school children across the country plant young trees in parks, forests, and streets on Tree Festival Day.
