We supply timber purlins in various lengths and dimensions. Timber purlins are primarily used in revetment works. A purlin in hydraulic engineering is a specific horizontal beam or plank used in flood defences. The purpose of the timber purlin is to increase the stability of earth and water retaining structures. This is achieved by connecting the retaining structure, consisting of a row of piles or sheet piling, together using a purlin.
As retaining walls, the wooden purlins are requested both with and without a pointed end. The most commonly used types of wood are larch, Douglas fir, and spruce.
Wooden purlins are also found in the roof construction of houses. In a purlin roof, the purlins support the roof structure. They are the horizontal beams of a roof truss. The vertical connections are formed by the rafters. Purlins are also frequently used for attics and wooden ceilings.
The purlins we supply are imported directly from our sawmills in Belgium, Germany, and Poland. We are always able to offer excellent value for money.
